Scotland

The Summer of 1998

The summer of 1998 was a wonderful experience for me.
I was blessed to be with two friends from my home town (Bill and Andrea), and had the pleasure of spending the rest of the summer with two Scots (Stuart, and Neil), and another American, Lynn.
The six of us met our missionary contact, Alan Garnett, and began our week and a half of orientation and preparation for the following weeks.
Our purpose in Scotland, this trip, was to bring to churches a week long children's camp in the mornings, and a bi-weekly "coffee house" with music and sketches for the youth in the evenings.
The last leg of our trip to Scotland would require the six of us to become camp counselors for the International European Youth Camp.  This camp would have 10 different countries represented, each with their own languages.  This can be somewhat challenging to a strictly English speaking group of counselors.  God worked a miracle though, because each student (ages 16 - 24) could speak enough English to understand.
